Makara, Phnom Penh. It stretches more than one hectare of area at the location of old
Phnom Penh radio station. Five of the buildings of the station were French colony
architecture before 1900.
Based on the License of Register No. 125/95 KJV of Council of
Development of Cambodia (CDC) National Investment Committee dated June 20, 1994, an
agreement on the Radio and Television Joint Venture was singed by Phnom Penh Municipality
represented by H.E HE Kann and KCS Cambodia Co., LTD. represented by Mr. Sommary
Sathisathean on August 26, 1994.
According to the contract, the broadcasting of radio FM 103MHz started
on September 4,1994 with the existing system but was equipped with Stereo system, in
coincidence with the renovation of the old buildings.
On February 15, 1995 the Radio FM 103 MHz was equipped with FM Stereo
Multiplex power 1 Kilowatt. It broadcast from 5AM to 12PM for 19 hours.
On December 12, 1995, the foundation of 100meter antenna started.
On March 30, 1996 the new antenna installation by an Australian
engineer- led team of technicians was complete.
On June 30, 1996 broadcasting on trial for three or four hours a day
started.
On August 8, 1996, H.E Samdech Hun Sen, the Prime Minister Of kingdom of Cambodia,
chaired the official inauguration ceremony. TV3 was known officially as Phnom Penh
Television 3, using Channel E3.Freguency54-61MHz with System CCIR Pal B-625 lines
power 10Kilowatts. The programs are : Local and World News, Sport News, Movies (Khmer,
Thai, Chinese, and American), Guest Talk, Music, Joke, Sports Match, Agriculture and other
entertainment programs. Moreover, Phnom Penh broadcasts the government statements, press
release and other information. Also, Phnom Penh Television organizes official live
concerts for National Events and for its clients. Keeping up with the advance of
technology in the country as well as in the world of media, on August 14, 1996 Radio was
equipped with 10 Kilowatt transmitter, covering in an average of 70 km around the capital.
