He was ordained a priest in 1959 and took care of the Khmer Catholics in Phnom Penh (St. Mary's Parish). On September 26, 1968 he took charge as the Apostolic Prefect of Battambang. He was killed together with one of his priests, Benedictine Fr. Jean Badre in May 1975 at Bat Trang in Mongolborei district of  Banteay Meanchey province.
Bishop Yves Ramousse, Apostolic Delegate since December 21, 1992, served as the Administrator of
the Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang until July 2, 2000.
He appointed Pr. Bernard Dupraz, a priest of the diocese of Chambery, France as his Vicar Delegate. Born on July 29, 1961 and ordained a priest on May 20, 1990, he came to Cambodia as a 'Fidei Donum" priest. He reorganized the Catholic communities and was at the same time President
of the Major Seminary until it moved to Phnom Penh in November 1998.  The presence of the seminarians was important to the rebuilding of the Catholic communities. His successor as Vicar Delegate was Tonlop Sophal, born on 18 August 1953 and ordained on 2 July 1995.  The only
