The Cabinet of the Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia, in order to provide protection to ensure safety for "Duch", the former leader of Toul Sleng prison, also known as "S1", would like to announce that "Duch" was brought to Phnom Penh by the authority in May 9, 1999, in accordance to the order of the Royal Government of Cambodia. 

The Cabinet wishes to inform that Duch is now safely living under the protection of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Regarding to Duch’s involvement with the court of law in the upcoming trial of Khmer Rouge leaders, the Government understood that it is the Duty of the court of law.
