Cabinet Meeting of the Royal Government of Cambodia

On 13 August 2004 at 8.30 a.m, the Cabinet Meeting of the Royal Government of Cambodia was held under the high presidency of His Excellency Sar Kheng, Acting Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia to consider the:

1. Draft Legislation to create:
- The Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation
- The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training
- The Ministry of Women Affairs

2. Draft Sub-decree to upgrade the current Medical School of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces as the Institute of Medical Sciences of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

After discussion and exchange of views and ideas on the above-mentioned 3 draft legislation, the Government Cabinet Meeting has agreed and approved these draft legislation prepared respectively by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and the Ministry of Women Affairs. It is worthy to note that the formation of these three ministries were the result of the split of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Labor, Vocational Training and Youth Rehabilitation and the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Veterans and so far the Law on the creation of these institutions has not yet been established. Consequently, these three ministries have respectively prepared these draft legislation in order to ensure that the functioning of each own ministry is in line with the existing procedures and legislation.

Draft Sub-decree to upgrade the Medical School of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces as the Institute of Medical Sciences of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces

The Government Cabinet Meeting has also endorsed this draft sub-decree to upgrade the Medical School of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces as the Institute of Medical Sciences of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces which was prepared by the

Ministry of National Defense on the basis of necessary requirement of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces as well as the shortage of medical doctors to fulfill the need of different RCAF military units.
The Ministry of National Defense has requested the principle agreement from the Royal Government to select, every year, 40 candidates firstly among the military medical officers who have completed their refreshment course at the Medical School of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and secondly among those who graduated from the University of Medical Sciences in order to further their Medical Doctor Degree at the Medical School of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

The Government Cabinet Meeting ended its plenary session at 11.10 A.M.
