BRIEF PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY
H.E. Mr. SOK AN, a son of Mr. Chhung SOK and Mrs. Chhorn LEAP.
H.E. Mr. SOK AN was born on 16th April 1950 in Kompong village, Preah Bat
Chuan Chhum sub-district, Kirivong district,Takeo Province.
Principle in a high school in Kirivong district, Takeo province.
Graduated from the faculty of Science and Arts in Literature. Degree in Geography, History and Sociology in 1972.
Completed the Ecole Normale Superieure (E.N.S) and the National School of Administration (E.N.A) in Diplomacy in Cambodia in 1975.
1975-1979: in the regime of genocide ( Pol Pot).
In 1980, Secretary to H.E. Mr. HUN SEN, Minister of Foreign Affairs and later on in 198, nominated as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 1983, Secretary General of the Cambodian National Peace Council.
In 1985, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cambodia to India.
In 1988, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and in 1990, Vice Minister of Interior.
In 1991, was the Head of General Secretariat of the Supreme National Council of Cambodia from the State of Cambodia side. In the same year, was also the Head of the Central Cabinet of the Cambodian People's Party.
In 1993, elected as Member of Parliament of the Takeo Constituency of the National Assembly and nominated as the Co-Ministers in Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
In 1996, Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws.
In 1998, elected as the MP of the Takeo Constituency of the National Assembly. In the same year, nominated as Senior Minister, Minister in Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
Chairman of the Council for Demobilization of Armed Forces.
Chairman of the National Tourism Authority of Cambodia
Chairman of the Council for Public Administrative Reform.
Chairman of the Cambodian National Petroleum Authority (CNPA).
Chairman of the Task force on Khmer Rouge Trial.
Vice-Chairman of the National Information Communication Technology Development Authority (NiDA).
