History

The Ministry of Environment Library (MoEL) was established in 1994. From 1995 -1996, MoEL was supported by Cambodia Environmental Management Program (CEMP) and International Development Research Center (IDRC). From 1996-1997, European Commission Support Program for the Environmental Sector in Cambodia (SPEC) provided financial assistance for managing some parts of the Library. From 1997-1998, the International Development Research Center (IDRC) again provided technical and financial assistance for managing the Library.

Holding

the Library is constantly expanding its holdings, and now offers users more than 1,000 titles. The library also receives more than 1,500 newspapers in Khmer language.

The collection is broken down into nine main areas of classification, the most important of which are the Environmental issues collection, which contains works on environmental education, nature conservation and protection, bio-diversity management, air pollution, water pollution, waste management, environmental law etc.

The library holds a large selection of reference works as well as a complete set of all MoE publications. Other major divisions include the development agency collection, technical and sector information, and language training materials.
