I have a son and a
daughter. My son is in the first grade here but there's no teacher to teach him
at the moment. He used to be taught by the school director but he resigned in
November of last year. The school director hadn't gone to teacher school and was
only hired as a "volunteer," which means he only gets paid once a
year. Once he got his pay, he left because his wife lives far away from here, in
Anlung Veng [in Uddar Meanchey province]. She's a nurse there and he wanted to
live with his wife. My own wife is a farmer. Our house is right in front of the
school.

I am very happy but
worried that the school might not have enough teachers. I hope for better
teachers so that the children here can come and study everyday. I am very happy now
because when we only had the old school, the children had problems whenever they
studied. During the day, the sunlight would be reflected into the classroom, and
the heat made it uncomfortable to study there. When it rained, the water would
leak through the roof and bother the students. After the new school was built,
nobody has to worry about the sun or rain. |
