On herself:
|
I’m thirteen years old. I have one younger brother, who studies
in the fourth grade. My parents are both farmers. They grow rice to feed
our family. They also grow gourds, pumpkins, and cucumbers. Our house is
only a hundred meters away.

|
On the new building:
|
I am very glad to study at the new school. Since it’s been built,
I feel I want to learn more. When I was studying at the old school, I
didn’t feel like learning much and didn’t attend classes regularly.
I didn’t have many friends, either. My friends all live in other
villages. This new building has enough rooms and all my friends come to
school with a positive attitude. It also makes me feel good.

|
Favorite subject:
|
Science.
I like studying about the human body and want to know more about it.
|
|
On her spare time:
|
In
my spare time I work at home. I wash dishes, pans, and clothes. After
that, I help my parents at the rice paddies. I don’t really play with
anyone back home. But at school, I play with all my friends. I play
soccer and ‘high jump’* [‘High jump’ is a game where four children hold an elastic
string. A fifth child tries to catch the string using only her feet. The
height of the string increases gradually, until the string is being held
above the heads of the four ‘posts’]

|
In the future:
|
After graduation I want to become a tailor. I like clothes. I would
like to decorate and embroider them. If I could be anything, I would
like to be a nurse. I want to understand medicine and treat patients.
Then I can also help if any of my family members get sick.

|
If
she could travel anywhere
|
I would go to Canada. Someone told me that Canada is an interesting
place, and I want to see how people live there.
