The Cambodia Rural School Project

The Tokyo-West Rotary Club School

Mrs. Van Ken is a farmer living near the Tokyo West Rotary Club School.

In Their Own Words. . .

On her family: "My daughter is 16-year-old, and she stopped studying to help me work. Two of my sons are in second grade, and the third is too young to go to school.

On the new building: "I like the new building. I have been living here nearly 50 years, yet I have never seen a building like this one. I think it is a good thing for the village because the children have a great opportunity to study here.

On the future of her children: "I want my children to study because I want them to be smart. I have never studied, so I want them to have a chance."

On her future: “I want to study until high school to get knowledge.  My parents also want me to graduate.  I want to be a teacher when I grow up.”

If I could go anywhere:  “I would go to Phnom Penh because I want to continue to study and I have never left this village.”

If I could do anything:  “I would help this village because the villagers here are poor.”

Message for the donor: “I would like to thank the Tokyo West Rotary Club for donating this school building.”
