|
In Their Own Words . . .
| On teaching: | “I
was trained in a newer method of teaching.
I use it here and like it very much because the teacher does less
lecturing and the students must be more active.”
|
| On school subjects: | “I have liked
mathematics since I was young. I
try to pass on my love of mathematics to my students.
I think that the students dislike the sciences like chemistry and
physics because the school lacks the equipment to demonstrate them
properly.”
|
| On the future of his children: | “I am married and my wife and I have five children.
They are all still in primary school.
I look forward to teaching them here in the future because their
futures are not yet decided and education is the only thing which can
help them to succeed. I
expect my children to all graduate from middle school, but some might
not pass the exams to enter high school.
In the future, I would like my students to work either in
education or medicine. These
two fields are the most important ways to help Cambodia because many
people are sick and many people are ignorant.
Having a doctor in the family will also be good as we get
older.”

| Message for the donor: | “Since the new building was built, the number of students enrolled has increased by about 300 because students are no longer afraid that the building will collapse.” |
