The World Mate School Number Nine

Kep Sophea is a 16-year-old third grade student at the World Mate School Number Nine.  He was ranked first among his 59 classmates at the end of last year.  His parents are farmers and his younger brother is in first grade at the school.

In Their Own Words

On school subjects: “I like mathematics even though it is hard for me, and I dislike social science.”

 
On going to school: “It is important for me to go to high school for my future work.  I do not know what I will do, but I will need education.  Maybe I will be a teacher.”

 
On his free time: “I take water from the well for my family.  I also like to shoot rubber bands at my friends, and they shoot back.”
