In Their Own Words. . .
| On the new building: | “I like it because the roof doesn’t leak.”
|
| On teaching: | “I like it because I want to see my students become
smart.”
|
| On school subjects: | “I think that the students like learning math.
I do not know why.”
|
| On his personal history: | “I was a foot soldier for the Khmer Rouge for 12 years
before becoming a teacher. I
became a teacher because when the Vietnamese invaded [in 1979] there was
a lack of teachers and I had been to school, so I was needed to
teach.”
|
| Message for the Nippon Foundation: | “I would like to thank the Nippon Foundation very much for this great school which helps the residents of this village very much. I wish the members of the Foundation happiness and long life.” |
