“I used to live in the
Phnom Keav camp in Pailin during fighting and I just came back to live
here.”
[Fighting between the
government and remnants of the Khmer Rouge in Pailin lasted until 1997.
Many locals were displaced and fled to refugee camps across the
Thai border or in safer areas within the country.
This particular camp was administred by the Khmer Rouge as a safe
place for people within their jurisdiction during the fighting.]
