The Cambodia Rural School Project

The Brad Washburn School

Chhuon Pirun, a fourth grade student (Feb. 2001)

"My parents are farmers. I have three brothers and sisters. My younger brother also studies at this school."

In Their Own Words. . .

On when he grows up "When I grow up I want to be a teacher. I love teaching"

On his new school "I love my new school. The new school’s color is bright, and it is more comfortable than our old school."

On his favorite subjects "I like Khmer language because it belongs to the Cambodian people so it is easy to study. I want to learn English and French. When I understand English, I will go to the market and I will see the labels on things and will understand what to buy."

On traveling “The farthest I have ever been from home is Kampong Thom town (a 6 to 8 hour car journey from his village). I went there with my parents to visit relatives. Maybe someday I would like to visit other countries.”
