Seattle-Sihanoukville Friendship School
Rath Daro is a
fourteen-year old fourth grade student.
Pich Neth lives in Prek Svay village, where the
school is located. She is fifty-two years old, and has two children.
Her thirteen-year old daughter attends fourth grade at the school.

On the New Building: |
“Now that we have a new school and better teachers, I am very happy.
I know my daughter will get a better education. Before, when we
still had the old school, students found it hard to study, and the
teachers would sometimes not show up for class. Now it is much
better. My daughter can even study computers and English.”
“This school does not improve the lives of the elders, but the lives
of our children. But, it does keep the children closer to home,
since they no longer have to travel really far to go to school. That
is a good thing for us older people, who like to see our children
everyday.”
“I feel as though the new building has brought development to our
village. It is the first and only concrete building for many
kilometers around. It looks like it sprung up like a flower here in
the forest. I think it makes the whole village look nicer.”
