Chan Chea, a third grade student
Chan Chea is in third grade at The
Fumiko Oshima School.
In
Their Own Words. . .
| on the new building: |
“I am happy with the new school building
because it’s clean, not dusty, and the rooms are
well-lighted. It
is also easy to sit in. Compared
to the new school, the old building was very dark.”
|
| on her family: |
“I am 12 years old, and I have one younger
brother. He is
seven and is in first grade.
Our mother is blind and lives with an NGO
(non-governmental organization) about two kilometers from the
school. My
brother and I live at the Krousar Thmei (New Family) Center
near the school. I
don’t know what happened to my mother’s eyes, just that my
father used to treat my mother.
I don’t know my father’s name, or where he is now.
My mother won’t tell me.”
|
| on school subjects: |
“I like Literature
because I think that it is very important for me as a
Cambodian to know about Khmer history.”
|
| on her hobbies: |
“When I have free time I like to read Khmer
stories and play with my friends.”
|
| on her future: |
“I want to be a teacher when I grow up because
I would like to share my knowledge with the next
generation.”
|
| message
to the donor |

very nice school.”
