LETTER FROM PEARL JOHNSON, June 26, 2005
Dear Bernie Krisher,

When you were on Beth Ann Kozlovich's program last week, you said 2 things which came together for me.  You said "donor fatigue" caused people to lose interest in giving more to a cause and you talked about sending and receiving email from remote villages.

I think donor fatigue is due to not receiving feedback from the recipients.  Adopt-A-Child tried to overcome this by sending letters from the child to the donor.  However, I understand that more of the donations went to this communication than to the child.  But using your email scheme, feedback could be more direct and free.
Then a group adopting a village would be able to find out how its money was being used.  Knowing that its money was not going into a black hole but was making real benefits possible, the group would continue giving for years.
Your description of your present work was inspiring.  I really enjoyed listening to you.  What do you think of my suggestion?
I hope to meet you the next time you come to Hawaii.

Sincerely,
Pearl Johnson
