Tragedy and Hope

The setting of deadly land mines by human beings to kill and

maim other human beings is one of the

miserable tragedies of our age.

Yet, the sincere dedication manifested by you, delegates,

from all over the world, who have gathered here to

seek an end to the proliferation of these deadly mines,

to find the means to treat those afflicted and to

remove these mines, is inspiring.

It brings us hope that this scourge on humanity may

finally begin to end.

As founder of World Mate, an association in Japan of

happy people devoted to providing hope and

happiness to the afflicted everywhere,

especially in Cambodia, I commend you for your

worthy work and wish you all the success in

the attainment of your goals.
