What you need to know if you want to come to Cambodia to visit the NAC

Coming to Cambodia: Travelling to Cambodia is easy. Flights are available via Bangkok, via Singapore, via Kuala Lumpur, via Hong Kong or via Saigon. Overland routes are available but should be treated with caution as the security situation can change daily. Consult your Embassy before attempting such a crossing.

From the Airport: Taxis are readly available from the airport to Phnom Penh, a distance of about 15km. Taxi fares range between $5 - $7US.

Visa: A visa is necessary to enter Cambodia. This can be obtained from the Cambodian Embassy in your country or when you arrive at Pochentong international Airport in Phnom Penh. A tourist visa costs $20US and is valid for 1 month. It helps to have a passport photograph of yourself handy if you are applying for your visa on arrival in Cambodia. Visas are not available at border crossings.

Languages The official language of Cambodia is Khmer. In Phnom Penh it isn't difficult to find people who speak either English or French. The majority of documents held in the NAC are in French and Khmer.

Accomodation: There is plenty of accomodation options available in Phnom Penh, from top of the range hotels like the Hotel Le Royal of the Raffles Group, down to backpacker guesthouses that charge $5 a night. The cost of living for foreigners can be compared to Thailand.

Food: A wide range of restaurants caters to the hungry, offering Khmer, Malaysian, Indian, European, or Chinese fare.

Finding the NAC: The NAC is located on Street 92, behind the National Library, alongside the Hotel Le Royal, It is also close to Wat Phnom.

Opening hours: The NAC is open to visitors Monday to Friday from 8.00 - 10.30 and 14.30 -16.30
