Regulations
for foreign researchers
To do research
in the NAC, prior authorization of the department of Archival
Services is needed. To obtain this authorization, the researcher is asked to provide a
letter of introduction indicating his/her name, his/her academic or professional
affiliation and the exact topic of research. Usually authorization is approved within one
day.
Documents concerning the
period 1975-1979, the time of Khmer Rouge rule in Cambodia, can only be consulted after
having obtained the authorization of the Council of Ministers. A similar letter of
introduction is needed for this purpose, adressed to the Council of Ministers. In this
case, the examination of the research requests can take a few days. Documents created
after 1979 are restricted access and will need special
permission
Please note that not all
documents held by the NAC have been cataloged yet. Some documents may not be available for
reserach, due to their fragile condition or the lack of finding aids.
