Profile: Touch Sreylek is a 12-year old fourth grade student at Tith Mom School in Trapang Chak village, Tram Kak commune, Tram Kak district, Takeo province.
She is from a family of eight and they do not have their own land. She is the only child of her mother’s first husband who left them four years ago. Her mother remarried and had three more children with her new husband. She was frequently absent from school because she had to chop wood, pick vegetables, or find crabs to sell to earn 1200 to 1500 riels (30 to 40 US cents) a day. In exchange for rice for her family, she harvested rice. Her mother is ill so she had the burden to help find food for her family and look after her younger siblings.
