Profile: Bun Sophann is 15 years old and a fifth grade student at the 2006-2007 semester of The Sre Thom Nippon Foundation primary school in Sre Thom village, Ruong Roeung commune, Roveang district, Preah Vihear province.

Current situation: She is an orphanage child; her mother passed a way five years ago and her father just died three years ago by sickness. She has two sisters and one brother. Her eldest sister lives separately with her aunty near by each other. Her younger sister lives with another relative. And the youngest brother lives with one of her aunty. She is the second child; she lives with her auntie. All of her siblings are living in various families. There are five members in her auntie’s family. They are living by doing farming or work when people hired, earning $1 a day. Sophann were unable to pass the grade in the first grade because of she were very weak student. The reason for her frequently school absence is due her aunties asked her to harvest rice, take care of her auntie’s children and finding crabs/frogs for meal, housekeeping, malaria etc.

Problem she faces: Economic crisis, parentless, health issue

Suggestion: Her aunties agreed to send her niece to attend school regularly.

Support: We pay her auntie $10 a month ($120 a year).
