Souer Sar Em is 10 years old and a second grade student at the 2006-2007
semester of The Tokyo Shintoshin Rotary Club primary school in Dong
village, Reak Reay commune, Roveang district, Preah Vihear province.
Current
situation: Her family is farmer, besides farming her family
doing plantation, work for someone hided, and earn $1.20 a day. There
are eleven members in the family, including her aunt’s family
and her grandmother. She has one sister and four brothers. She is a
fifth child in the family. Three of her siblings are attending class
but not very often. The reason for her frequent school absence because
her house is far some four kilometers from school, requiring more than
one hour up to school. Moreover, she has to take care of her youngest
brother, feeding pigs, etc. She had never work for someone hired. Her
parents are in debt for about $125; that is why they have to work hard
for this and ask for help.
Problem
she faces: Poverty, her parent has no suitable work to do,
a lot of member in the family
Suggestion:
Her parents agreed with me to allow their daughter to attend school
everyday.
Support:
We pay the parent $10 a month ($120 a year).
