Kim Sok Rem is 13 years old and a fourth grade student at the 2006-2007
semester of The Wakako Hironaka primary school in Bak Kdorng village,
Robib commune, Roveang district, Preah Vihear province.
Current
situation: Her family is farmer, besides of faming her mother
selling a barrel of white alcohol at home place, get profit 50cents
a day and her father prefer to finding crabs in rice field. There are
seven members in the family. She has five sisters and three brothers.
She is seventh child in the family. Four of her siblings are married
and live separately. Two of her siblings are still studying the same
school. The reason for her frequent school absence is due to helping
her parent to work at rice field, cutting firewood, harvest rice, housekeeping,
look after animals, finding crabs and fishing for food. Moreover, she
working anywhere that people want to hire such as, harvest rice and
earned $1 a day. Her parent is indebt for about $50 and they have to
pay the loan by $1 a month.
Problem
she faces: Poverty, economic problem, no occupation and alcoholism
in the family.
Suggestion:
We shall be support her and provide counseling to father on effectiveness
of alcohol abuse as necessary.
Support:
We pay to her mother $10 a month ($120 a year).
