Girl #54 - Nhim Ponleu

Location of the school: The Ezra Vogel Special Skills School, village 5, Labanserk commune, Banlung district, Ratanakiri province, #220Girl student: Nhim Ponleu is thirteen years old. She is in the sixth grade at the primary school. She left school in last year.
Why we are sponsoring the girl: Ponleu has only one sister. Her father was died. She lives with her mother who is a seller of sweet in the market. She earns 5000Riels ($1.50) a day. With this income she must spend for food, clothes, health and other necessary things for the need of the family. The family lives in a very small house that the walls have many holes.
Ponleu did not have choice for going school because of the very poor situation in the family. She must help her mother to do housework and to sell things in the market.
After my explanation the mother and Ponleu understood the importance of the education. Ponleu was supported to attend school.Support: We pay her family $10 a month for perfect attendance.
