Girl#5 - Pov

Profile: Pich Chenda Pov is 13 years old and a first grade student at the 2005-2006 semester of the Kirivorn primary school in Kirivorn village, Kompong Sela commune, Sre Ambel district, Kok Kong province.

Current situation: Her family’s homeland is in Prey Veng province. They came to live here for the past ten years. Her parents were separated many years, now her mother has a second husband but he deserted her nearly a month ago. Pov said that her second father had a shown bad behavior to her and others. She has three sisters and two brothers. She is the youngest child in the family. There are seven members in the family. Her family is staying on and keeping someone’s land up but do not get paid. So they have to work hard in the field to support the family. She left school more than three months ago due to her mother wanting her to take care of her little niece at home and work as worker everywhere that people want to hire her (rice cultivation). The average income from all the children about $2 a day, and expense all for food.

Problem she faces: The family is living in the poorest condition. Most of members in the family are illiterate.

Suggestion: Her mother will send her to school after but they need our support.

Support: We pay her mother $10 a month ($120 a year)
