Profile: Sum Bopha is 11 years old and a third grade student at the 2006-2007 semesters of the Bor Yakha Nippon Foundation primary school in Bor Tangsue village, Pailin.
Current situation: Her parent’s homeland is in Kratie province, they moved to live here many years ago, and living on someone’s land and doing faming (plant corns) for survives. However, her parent’s house/plantation is very distant from her school place, that is why her parents are confided she and her second brother to live with her next of kin who is living nearby her school. But she will return home for every vocation time. Her father is an invalid person since 1996, by getting $12 with 12 kilograms of rice per month. Bopha has three brothers and one sister. She is the fourth child in the family. Her oldest brother and youngest sister live with her parents. And the third older brother became a monk five months ago. There are eight members in the relative’s family. The reason for her often gets school absent due to sickness (got fewer, dizziness), do house work.
Problem she faces: Poverty, health issue, her parents has no any property. Her house is very far from school if she moves to stay with her parents someday.
Suggestion: Her parents and relatives are promised to send her to attend school as schedule provided.
