Girl #40 - Channy

Girl student: Mout Channy is ten years old. She was in the first grade at the primary school. She is not able to go to school because of her poverty.

Why we are sponsoring the girl: Channy has two sisters. Her father, 49 years old, is a farmer on the land of one hectare. He does not have buffaloes for helping farming. Her mother, 37 years old, is a farmer. Their house is on a mountain far from the school about four kilometers. They do not get enough rice and food for the family. Most of the time they are working as workers in the village. They can only get 7000Riels ($1.50) per day. The yearly rice harvesting is very low for the family. Their food is added by collecting vegetable from the forest.

Channy must stay at home for helping her family to do housework and look after her sisters.

After the meeting the family has promise to send Channy to school with the support from our program.

Support: We pay her family $10 a month for perfect attendance.
