Profile:
Tuon Phala is 14 years old and a fourth grade student at the 2005-2006
semester of the Kirivorn primary school in Kirivorn village, Kompong
Sela commune, Sre Ambel district, Kok Kong province.
Current
situation: Her family’s homeland in Kandal province.
They moved to live here since 1983. Her father passed away eight years
ago and her mother also died four years ago. Both of parents died from
AIDS. She has one sister and two brothers. She is the second in the
family. One of her younger brother, 12 years old was transmitted HIV
from his parent and he is staying with Maryknoll for the past two years
(local NGO which is providing health care for HIV people). Her oldest
sister is married and lives separately in another district. She and
her youngest brother 9, live with their grandmother, 58. They are staying
on someone’s land and get $25 a month from the landlord. She got
absent because she had to help her grandmother work at home, keeping
up for landlord trees, growing rice at the field, etc.
Problem
she faces: The family is very poor. Grandmother is getting
old and could not do many tasks. They don’t have any property.
Suggestion:
She really needs support from us because she is an orphan.
Support:
We pay her grandmother $10 a month ($120 a year)
