Girl #39- Samphors

Location of the school: The Nicholas and Zachary Poor Primary School, #150, Trapaing Chress village, Phum 1 commune, Koun Mom district, Ratanakiri province.
Girl student: Phay Samphors is thirteen years old and a fifth grade at the primary school. She is the second child in the family. She doesn’t have time to attend school. She has missed many classes.
Why we are sponsoring the girl: Samphors has three siblings: two sisters and one brother. They are all students in the primary school, except the older brother is a seventh grade student at the high school. Her father was dead four years ago. Her mother is often sick. The family doesn’t have any plot of land for making field rice. They rent one hectare of land from the other villagers. The yearly rice harvest is very low. They have to pay the rental land and keep for eating. They don’t have enough rice to eat, so the mother and Samphors have to sell cookies in the village.
In this bad living condition that Samphors doesn’t have chance to go to school. She has to work with her parents to earn money for their living. Finally the family agrees to support Samphors to attend school. With the support from the GBA program Samphors will have opportunity to go to school and meet her friends for the education.
Support: We support the girl’s family $10 a month for her perfect school attendance.
