Ly Chen Hab is 14 years old and a fifth grade student at the 2006-2007
semesters of the Overlake primary school in Tuol Lovear village, Pailin.
Current
situation: Her family’s homeland is in Kompong Cham province.
They came to live here 10 years ago, as there weren’t any jobs
to do up there. Her father is a worker such as pick corns and take sometime
to look for precious stone (but little luck to seek it). He earns $1.50
per day. Her mother is frequently stay home to look after her youngest
sister. She also has various diseases. She has one brother and four
sisters. She is the second child in the family. The reason for her frequently
school absence due to take care of her younger sibling, pick up beans
and corn kernels on someone’s corn plantation, fishing to cook,
etc. There are eight members in the family. However, her brother has
a chance selected to be sponsored by government $30 per year for his
study, because of he is a good student and they considered his family
is very poor. He is entering a secondary school and a grade seven at
2006-2007 semesters.
Problem
she faces: The family is living in the poorest condition. They
do not have any support from their relative/neighbor. Her parents don’t
have stable work to do. Moreover, she dropped school about 10 days a
month to help the parent.
Suggestion:
Her parents have promised to send their daughter to attend school regularly
from now.
Support:
we pay her parent $10 a month ($120 a year)
