Girl #28 - Khun Chet

Profile: Khun Chet is 15 years old and a fourth grade student at the 2006-2007 semester of the Tokyo-West Rotary Club primary school in Tapang khlong village, Dombork Rong commune, Phnom Srouch district, Kompong Speu province.
Current situation: Her parents are farmers, besides of farming her father burning wood, earning $25-$50 a month but not very often. Her mother is picking kind of vegetables to sell. Her family is staying on someone’s land for the past two years. They don’t have own land. There are eight members in the family; all children don’t have ability to work yet. She has four brothers and one sister; she is the second child in the family. Her parents are in debt for about $250. The reason for frequently school absence is due to helping mother to work for someone hide and look after their pigs, earning $1 a day. Moreover, she has to take care of her youngest brother and do housework. But however, she always earns high score in the class (get level #2 among of 38 students).
Problem she faces: Poverty, everybody has jobless.
Suggestion: She needs support from us because the family has no stable work to do
Support: we pay the parents $10 a month ($120 a year).
