Girl#10 - Mom

Profile: Dem Mom is 15 years old and a third grade student at the year 2005-2006 semester at the Lee Rudlin primary school in Pras-Sva village, Banteay Chakrey commune, Prek Sdach district Prey Veng province.
Current situation: Her parents are farmers. There are five members in the family; they are very poor, her father got sick, the mother is selling Khmer noodles and gets profit of $2.50 per day. Her younger brother (10 years old) often misses school to look after two buffalos at the field. Dem Mom also feeding three pigs at home, sometime she has to work hard to harvest rice to earn some money. Her house is far, some three kilometers from school. Her relatives’ say, however, Dem Mom really wants to go to school everyday.
Problem she faces: Poverty, sickness
Suggestion: We should support her and provide some counseling to her parent to aware on education.
Support: We pay the parent $10 a month ($120 a year)
